How do I tag and organize my transactions?

Creating tags to label, filter, and total your transactions by category, and how they appear publicly.

šŸ’” Tags are labels you create to organize your transactions, like "Travel" or "Snacks." Add them in Settings, then Tags, and apply them to transactions to filter and total your spending by category.

Create tags

  1. On your dashboard, open Settings, then Tags.

  2. Pick an emoji, type a name, and choose a color.

  3. Save. Each tag name is used once per organization.

Apply a tag to a transaction

Open a transaction, or use the Add tag button on the transactions list, and pick the tags that fit. Remove one the same way. Members and managers can create and apply tags; readers can see them but not change them.

Filter and total by tag

On your Transactions page, filter the ledger by a tag to see just those transactions. Your tags also appear in CSV exports and in your spending breakdown, so you can see how much went to each category.

Suggested tags

For card purchases, HCB may suggest a tag based on the merchant. Click the suggestion to accept it, or ignore it.

āš ļø If your organization is in transparency mode, your tags are visible on your public ledger. Keep tag names free of anything private.
