What are announcements, and how do I post one?

Sending updates to your followers, with live donation and spending blocks.

šŸ’” Announcements let you send updates to the people following your organization. Write a post, optionally drop in live blocks like a donation summary or goal, and publishing emails it to your followers and puts it on your public announcements page.

What you can include

  • Formatted text (headings, bold, lists, links) and images.

  • Live HCB blocks that pull in real data and stay up to date: a donation summary, your donation goal progress, top spending categories, top merchants, and more.

Who can post

Only organization managers can create and publish announcements.

How to post one

  1. On your organization's dashboard, open the Announcements tab.

  2. Click Create.

  3. Add a title and write your content. Use the HCB menu in the editor to insert live blocks, like a donation summary or your goal.

  4. Choose Publish now, or Create draft to finish it later.

Your work autosaves as you go.

Drafts vs. publishing

A draft is private to your team; nothing is sent. Publishing emails the announcement to all your followers (people who clicked Follow on your public page) and posts it publicly on your announcements page. You can publish a draft later from the announcement itself.

āš ļø Publishing is final in two ways: you can't unpublish an announcement, and if you edit it afterward, your followers' emails won't update (they keep the version they were sent). Proofread before you publish.

Automatic monthly announcements

If you turn on monthly announcements in your settings, HCB drafts one for you at the start of each month, pre-filled with that month's donation summary, goal progress, and top categories. It stays a draft for you to review and edit, then sends on the 1st. You'll get a reminder beforehand, and if there's no activity to show, HCB skips it.
