What’s GitHub Sponsors?
GitHub Sponsors is a crowdfunding platform by GitHub that allows organizations and individuals who build and maintain open source projects to collect donations from the community.
Who can use it?
HCB organizations with open source projects can use GitHub Sponsors, provided that they meet GitHub’s eligibility requirements.
How do I set it up for my organization?
HCB is a supported Fiscal Host for GitHub Sponsors, allowing donations to be received directly in your HCB organization.
Go to GitHub Sponsors and select Get Sponsored.
Select the GitHub Organization you want to get sponsored.
Enter your organization’s details.
Under How you receive payments, select Fiscal Host.
Select Hack Club as your fiscal host under Choose a fiscal host.
Enter your HCB organization’s URL under Fiscal host project profile URL.
Complete the remaining GitHub Sponsors setup.
Submit your GitHub Sponsors profile for approval.

Where will I receive my payout?
You’ll receive the funds in your HCB organization like any other donation.
Can I use HCB if I already have GitHub Sponsors?
Yes. If you’ve already signed up for GitHub Sponsors with a different payout method, you’ll need to contact GitHub Support to configure HCB as your fiscal host.
How long does it take to get my money?
GitHub processes payouts according to its payout schedule, which is generally monthly. It may take longer under certain circumstances. You can check your estimated payout date in your GitHub Sponsors dashboard. GitHub manages payouts, and HCB can't expedite them.
What fees apply?
HCB does not charge any additional fees to use GitHub Sponsors. All donations are only subject to the standard 7% fiscal sponsorship fee; there is no processing fee on top of that.
