š” You can cancel a check that's still pending, or stop one that's already been sent, as long as it hasn't been deposited yet. Both are self-service from the check's page. Only managers can stop a sent check.
Cancel a check that hasn't sent yet
If your check is still waiting on review, open it from your Transfers list and cancel it. Nothing has been mailed, so there's nothing else to do.
Stop a check you've already sent
Open the check from your Transfers list or its transaction.
Click Stop payment.
Confirm.
You can stop a check as long as it hasn't been deposited yet. Once stopped, it's void and can't be cashed, even if the recipient still receives the paper copy in the mail. HCB emails them to let them know. Only organization managers can stop a check.
Need to fix the details?
You can't edit a check after it's sent. If the recipient, address, or amount is wrong, stop (or cancel) the check and send a new one with the correct details.
Sending it again
If a check needs to be reissued, send a new check transfer. Checks stay valid for 180 days, so if the original simply hasn't been deposited yet, it may still be good, no need to reissue unless it's lost.
