š” HCB is run by Hack Club, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit (legally The Hack Foundation). Its finances are public, funds sit in FDIC-insured partner banks, and money only moves with your permission.
Check it for yourself
Hack Club publishes its own finances and keeps a public directory of the organizations it fiscally sponsors, so you can see real projects using HCB.
How your money is protected
Partner banks are FDIC insured (the FDIC is the U.S. agency that protects bank deposits).
HCB disputes fraudulent transactions, such as a stolen card, on your behalf.
Funds are only moved with your permission.
If anything ever happened to HCB, your funds would return to your organization.
For parents and guardians
If your teen is running a project on HCB, these same protections apply. Hack Club is an established nonprofit, and you can review its public finances and directory at the link above.
