š” Yes. Organizations can get Google Workspace, free, on a domain you own: email addresses like [email protected] plus Gmail, Drive, Docs, and the rest. It's set up and managed through HCB, not a separate Google account you run on your own.
It's managed through HCB
The Google Workspace you get runs under HCB's own Google Workspace. Your domain is added there, and you create and manage your team's accounts and aliases right from the Google Workspace section on your HCB dashboard. You won't get a standalone Google Workspace subscription or your own Google Admin console to log into; everything, like adding people, creating aliases, resetting passwords, and suspending or removing accounts, happens through HCB. If you need something the dashboard doesn't cover, reach out and we'll help.
What you get
Email on your own domain, like [email protected], with Gmail.
The full Google Workspace suite: Drive, Docs, Sheets, Calendar, and more.
Up to 75 user accounts, and up to 30 aliases per account.
It's free for your organization.
What you'll need
A domain you own and can edit DNS records for. You can buy one from any registrar, such as Namecheap, Cloudflare, or Porkbun.
Don't have a domain yet? If you're a high school or teen-led group, HCB can buy you one and cover the first year. Look for the Domains perk on your Perks tab.
How to set it up
A manager opens the Google Workspace section on your organization's dashboard.
If it isn't available to your organization yet, join the waitlist from that page. Organizations that have raised over $500 are significantly prioritized.
Enter the domain you want to use.
Add the DNS records HCB gives you at your domain provider: a verification record, plus mail records (MX, SPF, and DMARC).
HCB checks the records. Once they're verified, you can start creating accounts and aliases. Verification can take a few hours, depending on your DNS provider.
Managing your team's accounts
From the Google Workspace section, a manager can:
Create accounts. Each new account gets a temporary password sent to a backup email, and the person sets their own password at first sign-in.
Add or remove email aliases for an account.
Reset a forgotten password.
Suspend or delete an account.
Good to know
Google Workspace is rolling out gradually, so if you don't see it for your organization yet, join the waitlist.
If an organization goes inactive for a long time, its Google Workspace accounts may be revoked.
